Before they were enemies, they were best friends and managed to assemble a team of elite mutants to create the X-Men in an attempt to prevent World War III./ The famous scientist Dr. Helen Benson (Jennifer Connelly) finds herself facing come face to face with an alien named Klaatu (Keanu Reaves) who has traveled the universe to warn humanity about an impending global crisis. When forces beyond Helen's control treat the alien as a hostile being and refuse her request to address world leaders, she and her estranged stepson Jacob (Jaden Smith) quickly discover the deadly ramifications that underlie Klaatu's claim that he is a "friend of the earth." Now Helen must find a way to convince the entity that has been sent to destroy us that humanity is worthy of saving, although it may be too late. The process has begun.
