As Naruto tries to overcome the loss of his master by training to become a Sennin, Pain launches a devastating attack on the Leaf Village. After the fraticidal combat between Sasuke and Itachi, Tsunade entrusts Team Seven, including Naruto , with the mission to find Hotaru, wielder of the forbidden jutsu, and bring her back to her village. However, she, with the help of Utakata, wants to fulfill her grandfather's wish: restore the honor of the Tsuchigumo Clan. After this mission, Naruto receives the devastating news that his teacher Jiraiya has been killed by Pain, the leader of the Akatsuki, and decides to train with Fukasaku on Mount Myoboku to become a Sennin. But in their absence, Pain attacks Leaf Village, leaving casualties, suffering, and destruction in his wake.
